Notes

My seat was in the center, but far back and under the roof of the mezzanine. This resulted in the tape sounding a bit distant, and with a ton of audience noise. This tape is definitely of the "warts-n-all" variety, but I decided to release it since the circulating sbd is muffled and has static, and I haven?t yet found a good audience upgrade.

d2t07: There was a moment when the drummers left and the stage was empty while
they wheeled out the Thunder Machine. I used this opportunity to flip the tape.

d3t05: The little wind-down jam at the end of Miracle is cut where I faded and
changed tapes. I managed to get it done before the start of Morning Dew.

d3t08: The band skipped Sunshine Daydream and went straight to Brokedown.

Subject: Complete Brokedown Palace
Great show overall, sound quality's ok but obviously not as good as the sbd that's out there. This aud recording has the full version of Brokedown Palace that gets cut off halfway through in the sbd, though. Ken Kesey's son, a wrestler at U of Oregon, was killed when the team van drove off a cliff not long before this show in 1984. Kesey was in attendance at this show. At the end, the entire band turned toward him and played Brokedown. In a later interview, Kesey recounted with tears in his eyes that it wasn't until that moment that he really understood what art was. He said that "All my life I thought art was this [he stuck a fist in the air]. But at that moment I realized that art was really this [he made a hugging motion]." It's great to have this moment in history available in its full version on this recording.
